In El Paso alone the number of children who are affected by child abuse is outrageous. Last year 2,337 children were confirmed of being abused. There are numerous amounts of children out there who suffer from child abuse all over the nation. What is even more shocking is there are many cases of child abuse that haven’t been reported. All over the United States are countless amounts of Organizations. In El Paso there is only a scarce amount.
The Child Crisis Center is one of the few organizations of El Paso. This organization was made to help protect children who have been abused. They take in an excessive amount of children as well as offering to help parents to prevent child abuse. They go by the motto “Protecting our children, preserving our Future”. This motto shows the dedication they have to keep their children safe. They accept donations which are greatly appreciated. The types of donations they prefer are school supplies, clothes, toy, diapers, lotion, shampoo/conditioner etc. They also offer a various amounts of services and Programs including STEP Parenting Program, No Kidding, Military Service, a Resource Center, Discover Shop, Volunteer program, Circle of love Nursery and Children’s shelter. Those are the main programs at (CCCEP).
The Circle of Love Nursery and Children’s Shelter provides Shelter for those who are going through a crisis. This organization provides the families with the help and support they need in order to overcome whatever situations they are going through. They even offer parenting classes to help prevent their situations from reoccurring. Along with providing information on abuse prevention education. They also offer a volunteer program, which includes you to do a various amount of duties that varies from helping with children, answering phones, and helping with fund raisers. They accept volunteers to apply and follow a few steps before actually volunteering. They do require for people who are interested to volunteer 5 days out of a month. If those requirements are met it would be greatly appreciated.
The Child Crisis also gives an opportunity to all those parents in the community who need help. The STEP (Systematic Training For Effective Parenting) parenting Program offers parents with skills and information they may need. They require you to meet once a week for a couple of months. They cover topics that discuss management techniques, improve communication skills, anger management, and how to cope positively with stress. This program is free and will benefit those in the El Paso Community who need it.
Child abuse affects children in many ways it effects how they feel about themselves and makes them feel like it is their fault in some situations. The Child Crisis Center provides the help and attention these children need to overcome what they have been through. They help to re assure them that it isn’t their fault and help make them feel safe.
This Organization gives a greatly amount of information that is useful to all those in the community. They provide many useful programs and services to show all those parents that abusing their child shouldn’t occur and it can be prevented. For all those who know or have seen children get abused by their parents. There is a way to help.
